Monday before we headed back to fly home, we decided to spend some time at the Texas State Aquarium. It was so fun, and we had a blast! :) Here is my cute hubby outside by the neat waterfall entrance.
We spent about two hours at the Aquarium, and saw all kinds of different things. This was one of the first birds we saw...since it was pink, I had to take a picture! :)
And this was a HUGE stingray...absolutely massive! My hand would probably barely fit over the "nose" at the point of the stingray's head. It's name was Bertha!
At one of the sea horse tanks, there was a little bubble to peek up from the inside. Austin and I couldn't resist a few fun pictures!
Besides being silly, it was interesting to get to see the sea horses from "inside" the tank, per say...and watch them wrap their tails around the plants while they slept!
This tank held two different sharks, but the good pictures are only of one shark. This was Austin's favorite part of the Aquarium. I have to admit, I'd never want to meet one of these guys out in the ocean myself!
The shark looks like he's charging after his prey...really he was probably just enjoying a relaxing swim. :)
Fish and birds weren't the only "wildlife" there in the Aquarium. There were also snakes, frogs, and a porcupine! These are poisonous dart frogs--which I found out are only poisonous in the wild, because of what they eat. The frogs are harmless, and not poisonous at all in captivity. I guess we learn something new every day! :)
This picture was probably one of my favorites that I took the whole day...it's like the fish was posing just for me! :) The Aquarium was very well kept, very clean, and very fun! I'm so glad that we got a chance to go! :)
The dolphins were probably my favorite part of the Aquarium. We didn't stay for the dolphin show, but we did get to watch them play around with these noodle-like floats for a while. There were three dolphins total, and they loved to throw the floats, splash back through the water, and grab the floats back up in their mouths before starting the process over again. It was beautiful, and fun to watch!
Here they are doing tricks...one of the dolphins liked swimming upside down a couple of times. They seemed very playful. :)
This is a picture of some of the sea turtles they had at the aquarium in the outside tank with otters. One poor turtle looked like it had a problem with it's shell...it's bottom kept floating up when it tried to swim! :( But they seemed pretty happy for the most part--and they liked getting their pictures taken. :)
Austin also liked the alligator "swamp" part. If you look closely into the water, you can even see the alligator!
This was one of the birds of prey they had outside. Along with this bald eagle, they had an owl, and a hawk (or maybe it was actually a falcon?...I can't remember). They were beautiful, and we were there right around their lunchtime...don't worry, they didn't eat us! :)
We took a moment to sit down while we were outside and take a look at the USS Lexington across the way from the Aquarium. Austin thought it looked pretty interesting...I think we might be stopping there when we get the chance to go down to Corpus again! :)
We had a wonderful time on our anniversary trip. :) It was our best vacation yet! :) I think celebrating being married for a year does that to you... :)
The inside of our rental car...it was so nice and made for a comfy trip to and from our destinations! :)
And here we are at the San Antonio International Airport, waiting for our plane to arrive...I think we would considerably more tired out on the "going home" portion of our vacation than on the "going away" portion, don't you? We might have been just a little tired out...but only because we had so much fun! I'm so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man, who I know will make a wonderful father to our daughter...due in only a couple more months! :) I love you, Austin. :)
