Day 1 Spring Break Week

Claire ate corn on the cob tonight for dinner for the first time. She loved it!
"Yay!" She says. "I've never eaten corn on the cob before. I thought it just came as kernels." :)
Delicious!

Today was Day 1 of Spring Break week here at our house. Momma came over and took Claire and I thrift shopping. It was so much fun! :) We found some good clothes at the Dollar Spot, and I found some fabric for a chair that I'm looking to re-upholster. :) Then we went back to my house for lunch, and to let Claire take a nap. We washed our finds, and now they are all ready! When Claire woke up, we took her to feed the ducks with Momma's Duck Bread. It was the first time Claire had ever gotten to feed the ducks, and she absolutely loved it! :) She kept saying, "quack, quack" with me, and laughing. :) The ducks were pretty skittish though, and wouldn't come very close. We had a great time anyways. :) I can't wait for tomorrow--we're going to the Zoo! :)

Exciting Happenings!

Above is a picture of what Claire loves doing best these days--walking around in Mommy's shoes! She's pretty good at it too, especially these flats that she is walking in here. She would walk around all day like this if I let her. :)

But the main thing I wanted to post about was about how Claire has really exploded in the language department lately. She says all kinds of little things like: more, all d (for all done), got it, no-no, night-night, momma, daddy, grandma, please, and lately she says "scriptures." She pronounces it more like "spiptures", but hey, I think that is pretty good, right?! :) But today, during sacrament meeting at church, she started putting together words. (To her, "got it" and "all done" aren't separate words--just something she says to tell me she is all done with something, or that she has gotten something--usually one of the balls she plays with.) She was sitting on Austin's lap and she looked up at him and said "Daddy, night-night!" Austin and I were so proud of her!!! :) She made her own little baby "sentence"! :)

Not only that, but tonight during our family scripture time she did it again! Claire loves to carry around Austin's scriptures (he reads out of his French scriptures for family scripture study), and after we finished reading she always goes over to Austin to get them. Tonight she went over to her daddy and asked him, "baby scriptures?" (Claire calls herself baby.) Translation: can I have these scriptures? :) Of course, we let her have them. :)

I can't believe my baby is getting so big! She is learning and growing and changing so much. Last Sunday was her first Sunday in nursery, and I just can't believe it! Sometimes I look back at pictures from when we first brought her home from the hospital, and think, "where has the time gone?" The past year and a half has been the best time of my life. Sometimes the hardest time of my life, bust most definitely the best. :) I'm so excited to see this sweet daughter of mine grow up, and I plan on enjoying every moment! :)

Precious Pictures (scroll down for another post)

Today was such a beautiful day, and I just had to snap some pictures. Since daylight savings time, we have had more time in the evenings to spend outside before the sun sets (hurray!). With the daffodils blooming so beautifully this year, Claire just had to stop to smell the flowers.
What a sweet daddy Austin is to my girl. I could never ask for a better, more loving husband--or a kinder, sweeter daddy for my little one.
Happy spring!

A Fun Weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Palmer

Last weekend Grandma and Grandpa Palmer flew in for a whirlwind weekend of fun! They arrived late Thursday night, and stayed until Monday evening. We had so much fun with them here! :) During the "weekend getaway" we enjoyed doing some fun things...like playing! Above you can see Claire and Grandpa Palmer had a fun time together. Claire was especially interested in Grandpa's tablet. :) She really warmed up a lot to Grandpa on this trip! :)
As always, though, Grandma Palmer wins a special place in Claire's heart...and sometimes I swear they are two peas in a pod! One night we went to eat at Braum's...and when it comes to ice cream, Claire sure takes after Grandma Palmer. :) Ice cream and Palmer girls...an inseparable combination!
Mmm...delicious! There is no ice cream like Braum's ice cream. :)
On Saturday, Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD had their annual book sale. Since Austin's mom likes to read too, I suggested we check out what was for sale this year. :) We sure had a lot of fun roaming the book tables, and we loved the low prices! A few hours later, we left to head back home (more like the guys called to see if we would ever return from our book paradise, haha!). I must say that we took quite a few books with us...we were worried that they wouldn't all fit in the suitcases flying home!
While we were out shopping, Austin and his dad worked on some home projects together. Now we are the proud owners of white light switches, hurrah!!! I cannot tell you how wonderful it is! :) They put a lot of effort into this, and I am so lucky (and grateful) to not have to look at those dark brown switches anymore! Thank you guys, for your hard work!
Monday we went to the park, since it was a gorgeous day outside...even a little on the warm side. :) Claire showed off her climbing and sliding skills to Grandma and Grandpa. It was so much fun to have them here for the weekend, I was wishing that they could have stayed at least another week! Austin, Claire and I were very sad to see them go. :( But we were so happy that they were able to fly down to visit! We love you guys! Hopefully we will get to visit again soon. :)
